Overt (visible to the naked eye) technology
is used as a method of verifying the authenticity
of a document.
There are four important factors to consider when
choosing a technology to protect against counterfeiting:
1.
Ease of understanding by both the customer
and the examiner
2.
Ease of verifying
authenticity
3.
Difficulty
of imitation
4.
Level of protection
required
The biggest advantage of overt technology is that
no special equipment is required to determine
authenticity, thus making it easy to understand
and verify, as well as being very hard to imitate.
One example of this technology is Optically Diffractive
(OD) Ink – which changes colour depending on the
angle at which it is viewed.
There are many other different types of overt
technology , if you are interested in learning
